The Marvel Rewatch: Journey to Doomsday

 Hello everyone!

Where best to start than with not just a series of reviews, nor a simple ranking list or even a rewatch series. But with arguably the biggest of them all. Start as you mean to go on, right?

I personally love comic book movies. Especially Marvel. All of Marvel - not just the MCU. From X-Men back in 2000 all the way through to the current trailers for The Fantastic Four: First Step, there have been moments that have made me laugh, gasp, cry and sometimes maybe all at once.

They are easily the biggest and the best of the popcorn movie genre - at least in recent years.

So. The challenge here and I’d love it if you joined in with me on this is to watch the 58 Marvel live action films from X-Men through to the Fantastic Four: First Steps between now and Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July 2026.

That works out about one a week every week for the next 13 months.

I’m going to review them as if I had just seen them out of the cinema for the first time - with a little bit of additional information like Budget and Box Office information, Rotten Tomatoes scores and a fun facts section about the making of.

With each review going forwards, I will be grading against the following criteria:

  1. Plot & Script - out of 10
  2. Characters - out of 10
  3. Acting - out of 10
  4. Pacing - out of 10
  5. Action Sequences  (stunts, chases, choreography) - out of 10
  6. Visual Effects - out of 10
  7. Entertainment Value  - out of 10
  8. Production Design - out of 10
  9. Music (score and soundtrack) - out of 10
  10. IMDb - Power to the people - out of 10

As the reviews and the journey progress, a live rankings will appear to show how they stack up.

What will come out on top: X2 (2003); Spider-Man 2 (2004); Iron Man (2008); Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014); X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014); Avengers: Infinity War (2018); The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025)? Or something else.

Ultimately, this list will be swayed by my own thoughts so I would love to know yours as it continues.
